Leathers

Prestige leathers

Requiring their own kind of cut and finishing, different from those used for other leathers, these rare and precious leathers have an exceptional and special character, as well as unusual longevity.

Make sure you preserve the beauty of this leather by using it with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and protect it from moisture. If the leather gets damp, simply wipe it down with a soft, dry cloth. Never apply solvents, abrasives or coloured wax polishes. You can also entrust your article to our after-sales service.

Toile de cuir

Toile de Cuir made its world debut at the end of the 1960s, when Charles Schambourg gave some to Princess Amoush of Iran as a birthday present. Buoyed by the enthusiasm shown by those at the party for this avant-garde gift, Charles Schambourg and his wife, the designer Christiane Lesaffre, decided to concentrate their talents on weaving this fabric made from leather. In its turn, it attracted a number of big names from across the globe who often called on Charles Schambourg’s studios, sometimes for very ambitious projects such as the interior decoration of a yacht or apartment.

Since 1984, Delvaux has used Toile de Cuir in its collections. Made exclusively and to order for Delvaux, this genuine craft creation comprises a collection of strips of different leathers (matt or glazed, smooth or nubuck, etc.) of 2 to 8 mm wide, woven onto a polyamide chain.

Toile de Cuir’s distinctive feature is that it has all the qualities of leather, while being very solid, light and practically impervious to scratching.

Make sure you maintain the beauty of this leather by using it with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and protect it from moisture. If the leather gets damp, wipe it down with a soft, dry cloth.

For our products crafted from Toile de Cuir please ask our sales staff for care advice. Never apply solvents, abrasives or coloured wax polishes.

Today's leathers

These hides of European origin, French more often than not, are intended to be used with a minimum of restrictions.

Make sure you maintain the beauty of this full grain leather by using it with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and protect it from moisture. If the leather gets damp, wipe it down with a soft, dry cloth. Pale leathers are the most susceptible to soiling, mainly from contact with certain types of dark clothing.

For maintenance, we advise using the three Leather Care products from the Delvaux First Care Line: the Luminescent Cream which is applied with the Gentle Linen and the Delvaux Glove for perfect brilliance and shine. Never apply solvents, abrasives or coloured wax polishes. You can also entrust your article to our after-sales service.

Legendary leathers

These calf hides have finishes which respect their natural characteristics. The result is sensual and, over time, manifests itself in a beautiful patina.

Make sure you maintain the beauty of this leather by treating it with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and protect it from moisture. Water drops can mark the leather. It is better to avoid rubbing them, simply allow them to dry naturally in the open air. The pale colours of Bridon and Cabas will darken over time and acquire a beautiful patina.

Using the Delvaux Leather Care from the First Care Line may darken the leather and thus accelerate the development of its patina. Never apply abrasives or coloured wax polishes.

Tactile Leathers

For these leathers, the choice is between calf or bullock hide, depending on the characteristics required (grain or touch). Although initially more sensitive to scratches, to light or to grease stains, these models seduce those who love fine materials and who appreciate their touch.

Make sure you preserve the beauty of this leather by using it with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and protect it from moisture. Paler coloured leathers are more susceptible to soiling, mainly from contact with certain types of dark clothing. When first used, the darker leathers lose fine particles which may find their way onto lighter–coloured garments.

For maintaining Santiag, we recommend our three Nubuck Care products from the Delvaux First Care Line: the Delvaux Brush, the Corrective Rubber and the Protective Spray which waterproofs, protects and brings out all the beauty of your accessory. For maintaining Taurillon and Boots, we advise using the three Leather Care products from the Delvaux First Care Line: the Luminescent Cream which is applied with the Gentle Linen and the Delvaux Glove for perfect brilliance and shine. Never apply solvents, abrasives or coloured wax polishes.

Seasonal leathers

Retained, above all, for their original appearance, these leathers are used for more seasonal products, as well as for more trendy ones. Their weather resistance can sometimes be limited.

Make sure you maintain the beauty of this leather by treating it with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and protect it from moisture. If the leather gets damp, wipe it down with a soft, dry cloth. Never apply solvents, abrasives or coloured wax polishes.

To preserve its appearance, we recommend using a soft, dry cloth.
